Understanding Verification on Hub Split

Verification is a crucial step in ensuring the security and trustworthiness of all users on the Hub Split platform. By confirming the identity and reliability of both renters and owners, we aim to foster a safe community for peer-to-peer rentals.

We use an encrypted automation system to verify users of our platform.

The Two-Step Verification Process:

  1. Document Upload:
    • Depending on the nature of your rental request, you might be asked to submit various forms of documentation. This can include:
      • Identification: A passport or driver’s license.
      • Proof of Address: This can be a bank statement, utility bill, or a letter from the council, dated within the last three months.
      • Proof of Employment: This can be a recent payslip or invoice, also dated within the last three months.
      • Online Presence: Links to personal or professional websites or social media profiles.
    • Once submitted, your documents are securely stored, meaning you won’t need to upload them again for future rentals.
  2. Verification Assessment:
    • Post-upload, your documents undergo an evaluation by our verification system. This system utilizes algorithms that consider various data points, including the provided ID, to assess a user’s suitability to rent on Hub Split.
    • It’s important to note that while our verification system is comprehensive, being verified is not an unequivocal endorsement of a user. If, for any reason, you feel uneasy about a rental or a user, even post-verification, please get in touch with us.

Time-frames for Verification:

  • Typically, many of our rentals undergo automatic verification. However, for those that require manual checks, the process might take up to 30 minutes.
  • In rare instances, the verification process can extend to 24 hours.
  • Repeat borrowers, who’ve previously been through the verification process, generally experience quicker verification.
  • The overall time for rental approval can vary based on how promptly you provide the necessary documents, your rental history on the platform, and the value of the item you intend to rent (higher value items tend to undergo a more thorough verification).
